Update from me in BC! (Canada!)
Hi everyone, Just wanted to encourage ya'll and let you know that God has been doing some amazing things in my life these past few weeks. It has been great being here with my grandparents. They aren't Christians yet, but I know God is softening their hearts towards Him. Please join me in praying for their salvation!
Our God is good and able to do exceedingly abundantly above all that we can ask or think! Claire

Yeah, thanks, Abby. I am really excited. It will be good to be able to help my Grandparents out. Plus, having lived so far away for the last 14 years, it will be great to actually get to know them in person!

Sorry I've been so quiet lately, (both here and at the blog). I have some news which may make this chatting idea easier, I will be going to BC, Canada in 10 days to stay with my Grandparents, so I will be a lot closer in time to ya'll than here in NZ. I will be staying with them for the summer, so I should be free most days. Hope that helps! Claire Wow, Claire, how cool! That is great; I hope you have tons of fun.

I think we should try this! We may not be able to get everyone together on one chat, but if we could do two or three, that would give us a chance to chat with each other in sections, at least. Good thinking! What days would work best? For me it would be Sunday, Monday, Thursday, Saturday I'm busy on Monday and Thursday afternoons, but I could potentially do an evening on one of those days, or any time on a weekend.

What kind of pets do you have? A dog or a cat? Tell us all about them! Or maybe post a photo of them! I love dogs! I only have one right now (The others died ). His name is Denali (Deni for short) and he is a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever (A rare breed) I am not sure how to post a picture, or I would add one! Oh, neat! I don't anyone with a Duck Tolling Retriever; what are they like in person? (In dog? ;D) I have two standard poodles (the big poodles), a cockatiel, three horses (a Quarter Horse, a Shetland pony, and a miniature), a goat (who came to us sight-unseen--there's a bit of a story there), and yesterday we got four chicks and eighteen eggs to hatch--if they all make it most of them will be rehomed.

Great quotes!
I have so many favorites, but naturally, when asked to share them I can't think of them! Well, here's one that comes to mind:
“I believe in Christianity as I believe that the sun has risen: not only because I see it, but because by it I see everything else.” - C.S. Lewis
And, come to think of it, a couple regarding education that I like:
"All learning which is acquired under compulsion has no hold upon the mind." - Plato
"Just as eating contrary to the inclination is injurious to the health, so study without desire spoils the memory, and it retains nothing that it takes in." - Leonardo da Vinci

Here is another. I think this one really well sums up what we are doing here on the forum: "It is good to rub and polish your mind against that of others" - Michel de Montaigne (1533-1592)
Compare that with Proverbs 27:17 "As iron sharpens iron, so a man sharpens the countenance of his friend."

Hi, Tessa, Wow! Those are some pretty neat quotes! I loved that CS Lewis one. It reminded me of this one by Herman Melville: "Life's a voyage that's homeward bound."

Unfortunately I'm not on Facebook, so I can't join the group. (or perhaps I should say fortunately as I probably spend too much time on the computer anyway, and from what I've heard of facebook, I don't think I'd ever get very much work done if I was on it.) So I shall just remain in the blogging and discussion board world.

Oh yes, I LOVE reading missionary stories! Isobel Kuhn is my favourite. (Firstly because she is Canadian, as am I; but also because I have always been encouraged and challenged by her story and writing.) She has written numerous books! In the most recent one I read she said this: "The One who had proved Himself a living Saviour to the founder of the China Inland Mission was just as living and faithful sixty years later to a little new trainee. And He will be to anyone who will surrender all to Him and step out in obedience to His call."
Also this: "The Lord should fill your horizon always - nothing else is worthy." Amen to that!
I loved "The Heavenly Man"! It's been ages since I read it, but I remember that it was just excellent!
